For Parents and Tutors
The Louis Bay 2nd Library is very supportive of our local tutors, parents, and homeschooling community. We have a tutoring room that can be booked for tutor and study purposes. To book the tutoring room, please speak to the Children’s Circulation desk staff to check availability.
The Children’s Room is also in the process of creating a dedicated homeschooling collection which will be available to our patrons. If you are a homeschooling parent, we would love to hear from you about your home school group and the materials you use.

We are happy to announce that we have a brand new subscription available to patrons with a Hawthorne Library Card!
WORLDBOOK Student is a comprehensive site which includes engaging content, built-in features, and fun tools specifically designed to make knowledge accessible and easy-to-find for all kids in elementary through middle school. All websites below offer free materials, but may offer additional materials or services at a paid tier.
All websites are reputable sources, but the Children's Room has not verified every page personally and pages may change over time. Please be forewarned and use your best judgement.
CodeAcademy is an educational resource which offers interactive coding courses & other resources for learning coding.
Khan Academy is a resource that has educational materials
covering Math, Science, English, History, and more from grades K-12.
MetKids is an educational resource provided by the Metropolitan Museum that
has materials regarding what can be found at the museum.
National Geographic Kids is a resource that has educational materials
historical events, animals, and other life sciences.
PBS Kids has both educational materials for children and their parents.
Polypad is a resource that offers virtual math manipulatives.
ReadWriteThink is a resource that hosts curated sets of lesson plans, teaching materials, and professional learning resources on topics frequently taught in classrooms.
Scratch is an online platform where children can code games, stories, and animations.
