Jane’s Favorite Holiday Books

Normally, I am not reading mushy feel good books except for the end of the year. I have two books listed here that I try and re read every year around Christmas time while drinking some hot chocolate.

Here are some my favorite Holiday books

  1. A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. Am I basic for putting this at the top of my list, probably. I love Dickens’s writing style and this novel was my first exposure to other Dickens works. Every time, I read this, I am consistently picking up on new context clues while wondering what moments of my life would I be shown if this happened. Scrooge and his development especially with Bob Crachett will be sure to warm everyone’s heart. I also really love the Muppet adaptation of A Christmas Carol and who could forgot the Mickey Mouse version as well.
  2. Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. While technically this isn’t fully set around the Holiday season, some of the best moments happen in the Winter months. My favorite character is still Beth followed by Jo.
  3. In a Holidaze by Christina Lauren. A Christmas version of Groundhogs Day. Our main girl Mae asks the universe for a sign to help her navigate her future to only have the universe put on a continuous loop.
  4. Royal Holiday by Jasmine Guillory. This follows Vivien Forrest and her daughter Maddie from the third book in the Wedding Date series with Vivien taking center stage. Vivien tags along with her daughter to England where she meets and falls for the Queen’s private secretary. I listened to the audiobook and loved the narration.
  5. Christmas Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella. Becky’s Christmas traditions are thrown in the air after her parents tell her that they are moving and if Becky wouldn’t mind hosting. From her husband saying he just wants one thing to her sister’s demand for a vegan turkey to an out of the blue old boyfriend showing up, this kept me laughing the entire time.
  6. The Greatest Gift by Philip Van Doren Stern. One of my all time favorite movies is It’s a Wonderful Life starring James Stewart and Donna Reed. The film was based on this short story.
